Kazakhstan's President received Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan
During the meeting, the sides discussed pressing issues of bilateral cooperation.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the visit of Tanzila Narbayeva is of great importance in terms of the development of inter-parliamentary ties and giving additional impetus to interstate relations.
“In 2018, the volume of trade reached US$ 2.5 billion. This year, only within 9 months, it exceeded the figure of the last year, in other words, at the end of the year, of course, the volume of trade between our countries will be quite significant,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.
The President recalled his state visit to Uzbekistan in April early this year, during which both sides agreed to increase cooperation in the trade and economic sphere with the intermediate goal of bringing the indicators of mutual trade up to US$ 5 billion.
The Head of State also noted the development of transport links between the two countries, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
“Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are not only interested in developing cooperation with each other, but they also mutually complement each other on a number of issues. Therefore, the ultimate success is not far off. Moreover, my colleague President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and I agreed to take the most active steps to develop comprehensive cooperation," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
In turn, Tanzila Narbayeva thanked the President for the warm welcome and conveyed the words of greetings from Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Your election to the post of Head of State is a recognition of your work in the previous post, you are an experienced diplomat, an influential leader, and, most importantly, the successor of the ideas of the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who pursued a very strong policy to strengthen state security and economic development of Kazakhstan,” the Uzbek politician noted.
Following the meeting, the Head of State expressed good wishes to the President of Uzbekistan.
